In the event that school doesn't return to "normal," and school has to be part time in person, part time virtual (or something of the like), how are schools working to ensure that students with disabilities aren't being segregated into groups of only other students with disabilities in an effort to meet compliance mandates?

That is a district question and probably depends on geographic location. I am in Southern California and we have created committees and smaller subcommittees to address these concerns and help with the development of what the schedule will look like. we are looking at 100% DL models, that can easily transition to a blended hybrid model for students or back to 100% DL if needed, so I dont really see an issue. Anyone that would like to participate in hybrid can and then the hybrid students are split into two groups ( im assuming randomly) or hopefully they are letting us identify and look at the lists for hybrid to make sure there isn't just all sped kids in a group, one will go two days and then a day off for cleaning and online office hours meetings and PD, then the next group will attend if they wish the final two days of the week. so there will be a mixture of sped and GE students, and then we are looking at built in intervention and office hours to further support. But again, nothings confirmed and who knows what itll really be like.
